Well, 223 Mags it is then.

If you don't mind, I'm going to borrow your idea for pressing those out a bit. I think aluminum billet would work for the mag body, but probably steel for the tapered...

Kurtz,

That 7mm looks very cool. Thanks for sharing that.

A mandrel to press them sounds like a great idea. I wonder if it could be done cleanly or not? Seems to me that with the mag welded...

Frank, thanks I appreciate that. I have no issue cutting the 223 mag sides, although I will look for a way to patch them so as to not have visible holes for dirt and dust. I know I could make them 3...

ACTUAL CONFIRMATION if CZ-527 7.62x39 Mags work for 300-221 rounds?

I've read over and over varying reports that while the 527's 223 mags need the sides cut to allow for the 300 bullet to sit properly, that the 7.62x39 version's magazine will work for the 300-221...

I'm about to use one of theirs in a 300-221.

Well, not one of theirs exactly, but a Spikes Mfg bolt. I have to say though, I have had issues with mine. AS I UNDERSTAND IT, the Spikes bcg is at...

Agreed! I'd love to hear more about that. If it was only .1" I wonder why they didn't just design it that way?

I'll cut the entire dimple if I could fit 6, in a heart beat.

I don't know anyone that has ultrasonic cleaned a suppressor, lots of people that talk about it, but never anything first hand.

I suspect it doesn't do much for baked on lead... unless those...

Bullshit. 50% vin/perox is fine for steel, ti, nickle (inconel). It will eat away at softer metals like aluminum and lead (obviously). Regardless, you would really have to abuse an aluminum can to...

I understand the idea, I'm not sure if I like the mag being open like that though. It looks to me like the cut wouldn't completely be covered by the magwell.

I'll have to think...

Frank,

Thanks. I kinda got into the 223 rifle on a whim so I'm glad to hear it's a good host.

Can you explain a little bit about the mag modification?

Thanks

At 300 yards, a subsonic whisper bullet will drop so much that you had better be damn sure of your distance you you'll miss by feet...

All good points frank.

I'm curious how quiet an AK could get. Or if the action or vents is too loud.

Is there a reason a 223 AK wouldn't be whisper-able?

If not, then why has no one (that I could find) done it?
