BULLSHIT! :) I did it last year with a Sig 229 and a 147gr Hydrashock. 2 1/2 year old 8 point scored 122". I was out running trail cameras and had an opportunity, so I took it.

Exactly, for the lighter pills, back it down to 30 grains and chrony it. With large bore pills, you really need a slower burning powder for consistency due to the increased bore friction.

I just went and checked some of the barrel manufacturors web pages. The fastest 50 cal was Lilja at 1/15". Most are 1/16 to 1/20 for the BMG. Some are as high as 1/32" for slower 50 cal offerings.

I'm shooting a 750 AMAX to 800 Barnes solid. Those twist rates are for 30 cal, I don't think they make that fast a twist for 50.

I'm not sure of the proper name for the spring that came in the pistol lower from RRA, but it is noticably stronger than the springs in my carbines/rifle lowers.

I changed the spring with a stiffer, RRA carbine spring (stronger spring than DPMS/Colt). With the H buffer, I got a little blow back, but no where near as much as with the lighter...
