1/16" works fine for mine. the 34.0 grains of RE7 pushes it at 1040-1060

what bullet are you using? I am certain JD is using 1 in 10" and I've seen 1 in 9" and 1 in 8" for the AMAX.

I'm not doubting you, but I didn't think the bullet would stabilize with that slow of a twist.

I'm shooting a 750 AMAX to 800 Barnes solid. Those twist rates are for 30 cal, I don't think they make that fast a twist for 50.

I just went and checked some of the barrel manufacturors web pages. The fastest 50 cal was Lilja at 1/15". Most are 1/16 to 1/20 for the BMG. Some are as high as 1/32" for slower 50 cal offerings.

Pacnor makes 1~9,1~10 ect. tubes in .510.
