I'll try switching out the follower and try the 20 rounder again. The thing that makes me think there is something wrong with the mags is that they have the same issue with .223 loaded in them.

You could IM tp555 here on the forum. He can make you a custom gas block that uses set screws to hole the gas tube in the block. With his you just cut off the plugged end.
