Carbon15 pistol to .300 whisper

I just got this Bushmaster Carbon 15 pistol in a trade. Have any of you converted one to .300 whisper?

I haven't, but the thought has crossed my mind. If mine wasn't so darn accurate and fun to shoot as it is, I might...

With my single point sling, it pounds a 50 lb pig cutout at 100 yards off hand. Absolute blas

Maybe someday I'll get around to building another upper for it.

it would be about the same as building any other AR into the 300 WTF platform. The advantage here is weight savings.

IF I were to do it .. I'd SBR the receiver and screw on a stock extension.

No gas piston , Open port as an AR15... I know the pistol .300 whisper can be done. What I was after is if any of you have done it with a carbon 15 pistol and if there was any special considerations ....

Some of the carbon fiber uppers use a proprietary barrel nut but other than that I think the rest is interchangeable. I've got a 7inch upper (not on a carbon fiber upper) with the gas port moved back 1.5 inches from pistol position. It will run subsonic loads down to 110 grn bullets no problem. I have two carbon fiber uppers and lowers running other things. One thing I have noticed on the carbon fiber uppers is that they do flex more than other uppers. You can really see this when tightening up the barrel nut.

Well after taking a hard look at it . We are dont going to convert this one. (just not worth the trouble) We're gonna build a standard reciever into a pistol instead.
