If it has a Sako extractor it is a different deal.

The Remington 700 Fireball bolt has the factory ejector in a different location to assist in ejection of the short cases.

This is true my doner action was a 17 fireball, but I do have a problem with feeding the first round.

I think you need to tweak the follower spring. That was the solution provided by the Remington school for first round feed issues. I had a 223 with the same problem. Try bending follower spring in different directions.
