If it is Model 1 then the gas port is most likely in the carbine position. I've only heard of one guy getting an M1S barrel with the pistol position port and he had to ask for it.

With the port further out you will most likely need a slower powder and/or a larger port as Spook suggested.

Spook giving you good advice I went to 4227 and 1680 at his recomendation , opened gas port to .116" and I also lightened buffer to around 1100 grains and mu rifle functions every time, Sub loads or super sonic! Good luck.

ti lighten the buffer : remove it from the lower and take the synthetic plug from the rear of the buffer, inside you will find weights and rubber spacers. take out the weights and set the buffer on your powder scale, add weights untl you get the total to +/- 1200 grains...I filled the void in the buffer with walnut shell so the weights didnt rattle. reassemble and give it a try....you should probably have a smith open the gas port. If you dont know how you can screw things nup pretty good..... good luck

I have takn the front site off. The gas port is lgr. enough. I can put the tail end of a 1,8 drill bit in gas port. That is above you .116 and check what now. I going to get some 1680power and try this see what happens.
