I took out the 220 Hornady RN which is a flat base bullet and the 200 grain Lapua subsonic bullet. Both using the 12 grain load for comparison.

Field test - the answer is "yes" to a 7 x 33 Sako fitting a Rem 700 223 bolt face. A slight skim to open it up would not go astray but manufacturing tolerances are suitably loose.

It is far too easy to do. You are just a barrel wrench and vise away. Then you can treat your action as a platform and set up the barrel you want/need as you go - takes about 5 minutes.

I agree that 1/8 may be over stabilising 220 - 240s (I know they do that to 210 Bergers) but I think too we need to look at barrel length as well. Wasn't the idea that the faster twist would also...

I am trying to get my factory 700 barrel out of the 300 Win Mag but it will not shift. Seems my hobby smith and a gunsmith in town is having the same problem...
