Someone help me with my first lathe

Hi everyone I'm hoping to make my own wood lathe for a low price maybe about $50-$75. If it has to be smaller (micro or mini is sometimes used to describe) for that price then thats fine. I have absolutely no experience so try to keep the complex terminology to a minimum. The only two things I want to buy right now are the motor and speed controller for the motor. From the research I've done I've seen the belt drive ones that allow for different gear ratios but if its possible I want the most simple lathe possible so anything not neccasary I wont use. Pretty much I guess my real question is where can I get the motor (and which model) and speed controller, or maybve the two already attached. Im not very good with the whole sodering idea but if I need to I will learn. I live in Canada so if possible I dont want to pay too much shipping. I dont want a kit either I just want a strong enough motor and a simple speed controller (I can macgyver the rest).

Thanks so much to anyone willing to help
