I noticed that auction on ebay to. It is a fake
. It is true it is an actual BUCK knife
, but it is one made for the commercial market
; it is not one of the 1200 made for the military by contract
. The chervon > mark is BUCK's code for the year 1987. Of the 1200, all but 166 were issued by the military; these 166 were not issued due to the fact they had the chevron on the ricasso of the blade, which BUCK had put there w/out the military's approval. Phrobis and BUCK took the remaining 166 and numbered them off. I can't remember off the top of my head, but one took the odd numbered and the other took the evens. BUCK sold their's to members of the BUCK knife club, while Phrobis presented most of their's to dignataries and etc. It would be extremely rare to be able to find one of these in "MINT" condition. 1200-166=1034. This is the number that were issued and used, probably are all worn out and damaged. The knife in question on ebay, I would estimate, would only be worth $250 w/ a "buy it now" price. It is still a rare knife. I hope this helps.
