Cleaning Tumbling Media

I don't know about the rest of you, but I like to be as frugal as possible when it comes to items that aren't necessities in reloading. I would much rather spend a little less on tumbling media and buy some extra bullets or powder. Check out my guide on cleaning your media to extend the life:

This is the second time I've cleaned this batch and I think I will get quite a few more clean cases out of it, let me know what you think.

You can also through used dryer sheets in the media while you are tumbling to help keep it cleaner longer.

Too much of a pain in the butt if you are cleaning lots of brass.

For small batches it is fine.

I can only clean about 350 pcs of 300 WTF brass in a batch.

The stainless looks interesting, it also came up on another forum. It sounds like a pretty high initial investment, and you are working with a wet cleaning method.

I only did it because I had an RCBS Sidewinder in the garage I didnt use anymore. If I would have had to buy a Thumblers tumbler to get into it, I never would have tried it.

They are clean when you are done. Really clean. But it is a labor intensive chore.

Yup. Primer pockets, flash holes, inside the case, ect. The whole shebang. After 3 hours, it looks like virgin brass.

But I am not sure it is really needed for anything other than the wow my brass is pretty/CDI factor.

If it helped accuracy any, the benchrest crowd would be all over it.
