Rate of Twist

From what I can tell the 1:8 rate of twist is the most common for subsonic 300 Whisper loads shot through a can. But what is the best rate of twist if one wants to be able to shoot both subsonic loads with a can and supersonic loads without? I have read 1:10 would be an acceptible compromise, but is this true? The rifle is being built on a Remington 700.

If I was in the U.S. I'd just build myself a second rifle, but being in Sweden I don't have that luxury.

Any thoughts?
