new toy

well, finally got to do a little shooing today, over a chrony to boot.
built a new to me gun and got to see some reslults, real happy so far.
i had a lilja 25-06 improved stainless barrel here that i bought a couple years ago. i used it for a year, and then one of my kid's freinds thought he needed a hot rod and talked me out of it$$$.
this summer i hear through the grapevine the kid wants a gun he can buy ammo off the shelf for, so i call him and make a deal. bought him a brand new unfired 270 tube and screwed it on and sighted it in for him, kept the 25-06 improved tube.
took it to my buddy that builds with me, and had him cut the chamber down till my go gauge for 308 family closed nicely.
needed to cut a couple more threads on the tube to fit the barrel nut.
screwed the tube to a stevens action i had here, housed in a factory stevens stock, not bedding, and factory trigger. prepped 50 new win 243 brass. couldn't use the lapua i bought special because it woundn't chamber.
loaded up some 90 tnt's over win 760 for fire forming, got 1" groups first load. good enough for fireforming i figured.
chronyed the load today, getting 3180fps 10' from the barrel. also done up some 115 chinchaga's, got 3050 and 5/8 group first try. then 3 100 gr chinchaga, got 3200, and just over an inch.
juiced up the 100gr load tonite, will check it tomorrow to see if it sucks in a little or need to switch powder or seat depth. hoping for a long range yote rig, think i'll be pleasantly surprised real soon, lee.
