Penetration!
sTOPPED BY MYHUNTING BUDDIES PLACE LAST SUN. TO LET HIM SHOOT MY wisper,,, he was spliting fire wood and asked what kind of penetration I was getting,,,, did not know but figured 1 1/2inchs intio hardwood.

He put up a pce of birch about 4 or 5 inches in dia., shot two into it,,, he started splitting it and fount complete penetration.
I then set out a pce of dry beech and shot two into it (9.7 gs of 296 and 220 smk) started to split it and found that it had penetrated 7 inches from surface to tip of SMK into this twisted beech log. The bullet is still half lodged in wood and in pristime conditiion,,,, could dig it out and reload it.
Would have doubted this much penetration at 1020 fps or so. got pics on phone for doubting ones

Yes they penetrate very well. My experience is shooting hogs with the Horn 220gr RN and the Speer 200gr SP. The 220gr lodge in their heads, but drops them in their tracks. The 220gr will lodge in the opposite shoulder, but tumbles and shatters the bone and they will run a short distance before falling. The 220gr and 200gr will pass though the ribs just behind the shoulder, come out sideways leaving a large hole to leave you a easy blood trail to follow for a short ways. I have been waiting for the chance to pull the trigger with my 458 Socom Bolt rifle to test the Rem 405gr on a hog.

Glad to hear of your experience with the Hornady 22 RN. I'm getting ready to test them in my M1S upper.

What are you shooting them out of? What seating depth did you use, and did you have any feeding issues? I'm starting with seating to the cannelure. They look like they'll feed pretty well through the AR.

The Horn 220gr are not feeding 100% in My AR 10 1/2". The first box fed good but the next 2 boxes had more lead covering the entire nose. So for hunting my first round in the mag is the Horn 220gr and the rest are Speer 200gr SP. They have the same POI in my rifle and are 100% feeding. I have been wanting to try the Sierra 220gr RN, they look a little smaller at the tip, but have been out of stock when I have ordered bullets.
