338 w dies

Just completed my experiment using a Redding type S fl die to form perfect 338 whisper brass.
Those of us who've been wanting to try 338W but couldnt find dies from SSK or couldnt wait for CH4D....... Problem solved!
Seater die also tested and both function perfectly.

Now to get a reamer ground that fits 338W into an AR-15 mag.... ..and talk to AR Performance about some .473 bolts and extensions. This is going to make some feral hogs very unhappy.

dvcv- Thanks, I'll have a look.

d-mon- It was accomplished through the use of a carbide reamer purchased from PTG... and some creative fixture-ing. The "guts" were purchased direct from Redding along with a " Let us know how it works out" from the tech staff. They helped me make it a "one pass" setup, just like SSK's with a tapered expander.
We were making 30BR reamers this way before Redding saw fit to bring their own to the table.
The seater is a Hornady seater for 338 Federal.

Why try to squeeze a 338BR through an AR-15 magazine? It seems to me that cartridge would be very comfortable in a AR-10 or LR-308 which already has a 308 bolt face and a 2.8" magazine made for 308 WIn diameter cartridges. It can also handle the 338W case loaded with 300 grain or even heavier bullets. is there any advantage of a 338W over a 300 Whisper if you shoot 240 grain or lighter bullets?

Is anyone selling an "off the shelf" 338BR (aka 338/7mmBR) reamer?

For a full length sizing die why not just drill/ream the neck of a 7mm BR die then use a 338 Federal expander ball?

LouBoyd,

We will be selling Uppers, Dies, and barrel assemblies for our 338 THUMPER and it uses a 223 case.
