1993 Buck Full Tang USMC M9 Bayonet

1993 Buck USMC M9 Bayonet
Info provided by Bill Porter

The 1993 USMC Buck M9s all bear the 1993 "/" date code for when they were made. All 1993 USMC blades were solid tang blades and in total there were 350 made for the USMC. The attached photo shows the blade marking.

Out of the 350 made, 175 of them were riveted together with the blade tang extends through the latch plate and is peened over. The photos that follow (provided by "chris") show this version of the 1993 Buck USMC M9 and how it was built.

The other half of 350 Bayonets that were made, consisted of a drilled and threaded tang two as shown in the photo that follows (provided by Bill Porter). Bill had advised that was the second variation submitted to the United States Marines for testing.

Finally, following is an image that shows an assembled "Riveted" 1993 USMC M9 over a threaded tang 1993 USMC M9. Please also note the knife on the bottom of photo below. This knife has a short tang rod connecting the blade tang and the pommel. This version was not submitted to the USMC for evaluation and was made in very limited numbers.

I wish to thank Bill Porter and "Chris for providing the information and photos as posted above!
