Bolt gun vs AR quiet factor

I am very interested in building my first 300 whisper. I have built several AR's and would love to do one in this caliber. My question is how much louder is the AR than the bolt gun? I know there will be noise from the action cycling. Would turning the gas block off so it functioned as a single shot using the charging handle to chamber rounds make it as quiet as a bolt gun or is it still considerably louder? Thanks for the help. I am looking forward to owning my first 300 whisper!
