Waiting on some duracoat to do the barrel. Howa short action,5R barrel,Axiom stock,Krylon.....the scope's an older Tasco (Japan) 5 X 20 mildot. Feeds and functions perfectly & fits in my violin case
That looks nice, show us how it works out. I have thought of using either Duracoat or Brownell's Alumahyde II for my AR build. I haven't decided if I want to color for sure, or which method I would use.
I really like the looks of that. The stock looks very comfortable. I need to read up on that. Nice work.
I have tried a lot of different paints, both heat cure and air cure. My favorite so far is the heat cure Cerakote. It sprays to a very nice finish and luster that is consistent between batches. It's hardness and thickness seem to be more consistent too. Bottom line is its easier to do a good job and its lasts. If you ever get a chance to try some I think you'll like it. It dosen't plug up air guns like others I've tried. Cerakote tests every lot and they are into the research and development side of things. Since its a ceramic coating I have never sprayed it on a barrel though thinking it would insulate it slightly. I'm happy with a grit blasted stainless finish on my barrels.
