Need Info, on new m7

Hello everyone I'm new to this forum, my question is I just purchased a new in sealed bag M7 bayonet by gen cut for my stag arms model 1 m4, but to my surprise the barrel is to long for the loop to reach the bird cage, i realized these were probably for the 20" rifles, is there any adapter to make it reach? I have seen some where a M7 that looks like it actually had another part of a M7 butt end attached to the end of it to make it longer to fit, any ideas or info would be very much appreciated. You need a bayonet with an extended tang. I've seen three different variations but there may be more.

Thank You very much Porterkids, that was very helpful in understanding the difference, so do they actually make any type of actual military bayonet new issue or old issue type that will fit the ar15 without any modifications or dodads or cheap rigging, because i really dont want to rig my weapon, I'm not into tacky. lol

I'm pretty much a bayonet guy and I don't have a lot of knowledge of the variations of the weapons they go on. I can tell you this, the US Army uses the M7 and M9 bayonets. Their weapons are configured to use these two bayonets.

Your options are to find one of these extended tang bayonets or purchase a bayonet adapter that fastens around the barrel so you can position it to accommodate a standard length bayonet. Only problem with this option is that your rifle would have two bayonet lugs.

Thanks for the info, from what I've been reading on here now I see why some of you collectors like just collecting the bayonets, I actually like the one I received and wouldn't mine picking up some more of the same in different manufactures and also other variations of the baynet (m9, etc.), I know guns, but I'm slowy but surely figuring out the knife area, the biggest thing for tho is knowing what is fake and what is not with so many cheap copies out there, thats probably a different forum here so I better look. Thanks for the help much appreciated.
