by the whisper bug. What is the optimum barrel length for the 300 whisper 1/8 twist? Looking for the most versatile for across the board bullet weights. Haven't decided the best way to go on any aspect, just thought I would start here. Any help on any aspects is appreciated. ...........Doug

If you are looking to build the "most" versatile 300-221 FIreball (a.k.a. 300 Whisper) go with a 16-inch 1 in 8 twist barrel. If you are going to build your 300 in an AR15 then you want to put the gas port in the pistol position. The gas port should be about 0.70 to 0.075 inch in diameter.

I would also suggest that you read through all of the old posts here on this sight. A lot of your questions have been ask before and discussed in earlier posts. If you have any more question just ask.

Thanks for the sage advise. I decided, albeit much too late, that I should have done that previously. I will certainly call on you at a later date. I ordered a Rock River lower with a NM trigger. I'll ttl after I read previous posts. Many thanks, LITS
