New Project Gun

Newbee to AR-15 (sold my Rem 700 .22-250 to get into the AR-15 crowd). Just starting my first reloading as well as a custom project gun.

I received my .300 whisper Model 1 kit without stripped receiver this week. My Bushmaster receiver, sling, 5 round hunting mag, and drift pin set (to assemble lower receiver) will be here on the 13th. I am setting up my 2 pc Redding die set for OAL. I cut an empty brass vertically like I read on a post and inserted a 240 SMK. Loaded round into upper to seat and determined my OAL. Result was 2.194. I set my press to 2.220. Everyone ok with this so far? Be nice, I have only used factory ammo forever. I am going to make some subs using 240 SMK and H110. The posts I have read show most people using 10-12 g for this combo. I have a new chrony that I will use to check my loads for quality and specs. Got my brass sized and primed from David David, everything looked great! I will likely make some supersonics using a 150 BT. Looking into getting a JT adj gas block for the subs/supers.

I manage a 1200 ac quail hunt preserve in south FL so I have lots of room to shoot targets as well as hogs/coyotes/raccoons. Neighbors getting to be a pain in the @%& so I looked into the whisper for its quietness, flexible loading options, and tumbling wound channels (compared to a .22-250 at 4,000fps) in hog hunting.

This forum and Quarterbore's whisper pages have been extremely helpful in my pursuit of silent but deadly (xbox360 battlefield earth special ops character name TYTO TEX).

I need to get a silencer before I set up everything since the changes in gas pressure will affect my accuracy. I have looked into the Gemtech and Advanced Arm Corp. products and I choked at the prices (same as buying a whole rifle). One Finnish? brand that had 2 mount points was the most attractive due to better gun balance, shorter overall gun length, and strength of 2 mount points. No prices avail and Canada distr. does not sell to U.S. civils. Any one know of silencer options other than above and less than $800
excluding the nice $200 uncle same tariff?

I will send pics of all after I get all of the parts. Thanks for your input.

The 2 point mount sounds like the BR-Tuote reflex suppressor and I don't think there is a US distributor. I understand they hold up well but lack the amount of suppression of many current US models. I was going to say contact Mark White at Sound Technologies but then I remembered something about them and Yankee Hill Machine so I checked and sure enough...

Cost a little less than some others. There was a manufacturer on the east coast that sold some inexpensive models but perhaps they went under as I don't see them listed anymore.

Thanks Pug. I had seen options to get the Phantom flash hider before but did not know they made suppressors as well. I like the q.d. suppressor/flash hider system and the price is more reasonable. I got my model 1 without barrel threading because I had heard about them using a special thread to prevent mistakes of using .223 hiders on .30 cals. I will send my barrel out for threading, maybe Randall at AR-15 barrels, after I receive my suppressor.

Any idea on a front sling mount when not using open sights and having the JT adj. gas block installed? Just ordered my block to replace the stock one with sling mount that came with my model 1.
