Allright, here's what comes to mind: I guess in a round a bout way what I am looking for in this thread is the means to justify in my mind cutting my 16" AR whisper (which I'm not currently happy with the accuracy of) down to a 10" or so SBR and still be able to effectively put rounds on target with a low power variable optic or a fixed 1x dot. Effective results for me with the weapon in this configuration is about MOA, maybe + a little, accuracy and the ability to deliver a killing shot to predators and varmits, and to punch paper. I realize I prefaced my statement with my accuracy issues and still wish to have a roughly MOA weapon, but I've not given up on it yet and am currently working on resolving the accuracy issues.

I think it has taken me a while to realise that, to be even more brutally honest, I'm starting to look at my AR whisper as more of a range play toy, and now have more interest in building up a bolt gun in .300 Whisper for accuracy. Like I said, I'm in effect looking for justification spend the $$$, I think I mainly want the reassurance in my mind that I'm not making an error.

Thank you all for responding to my thread and humoring me, I do appreciate your input.

edit: I do believe that jimcrowels weapon in the pics section is just about what I'd like to end up with.

Interceptor,
The advantage of the 16" in Texas is that you can take it deer hunting w/supersonic loads & you basically have a 7.62x39.
Hogs come to your feeder-remove supersonic mag & replace w/subsonic mag, cycle bolt to remove super round, attach suppressor, aim about 11" hi & have a bunch of fun!

Dude, I haven't hunted in about 15 years. Now a days I'm a cardboard assasin. But, I will take out the odd coyote when they cross my path.

Update 9/10/08: ammended my trust earlier this week and sent off my SBR request to the BATFE to shorten my AR barrel to 9.5".

Also, looking for a Rem 700 in .223 to convert over to my newest .300 Whisper. Anyone got one they wanna part with before I buy a new one?
