Custom Barrel Maker for my Woo?

So I have decided to put a stainless steel 300 W barrel on my Daewoo DR-200. I have never shot 300 W before, but have read up on it and now have caught the bug.

I contacted Randall Rausch over at AR15barrels.com about a price quote, but did not receive a response from him. Not sure what to make of that, but anyway I am looking for the following:

- 12" Stainless Steel Match Grade barrel (Medium Weight Barrel Profile)
- 300 Whisper
- 1:8 twist
- Threaded for an AR-15 barrel extension, BUT BARREL EXTENSION IS NOT TO BE INSTALLED
- GAS PORT IS NOT TO BE DRILLED
- Obviously no gas block is to be installed either
- Muzzle crowned and threaded to accept a YHM 4 Slot Phantom Flash Hider (5/8"-24 Right-Hand Thread (YHM-3302A))

My smith will install the barrel extension from the Daewoo, check the headspace, and drill the gas port too.

Does anybody know a custom barrel maker who will do this kind of work? It seems like a fairly simple request to me if only b/c the barrel maker doesn't have to check headspace, etc.

Any help is greatly appreciated by this 300 W newbie.
Thanks,
Keith

I made a barrel for a daewoo 200, years ago when I had my ffl.It was a pita. The barrel extension of the daewoo is different from the ar-15,much different. The front sight gas port was a problem only because of the height away from bore.It had to be dialed in for windage then pinned. I once made bolt carriers for that model.Made 12 sold 11.I am keeping one for myself.

You might shoot an email to teppo jutsu and see if Marty can make one. That's about all the help I can offer.

DR-200 Barrel Extension differences?

tp555

I know I have to reuse the barrel extension from my Woo...so are the threads different inside of the barrel extansion from the Woo and one for an AR-15?

I have been emailing Derek at AZEX and he seems to think that the Woo and AR-15 barrel extensions will both screw on to the same size threads...is he wrong?

Thanks,
Keith

The wu barrel ext is longer. The threads are the same if I remember, but the wu has a 5/16 hole on the bottom. The barrel goes into the upper and a bolt goes from the bottom up into the 5/16 hole to lock it in.This was weird but thats how it goes.To make a barrel, a barrel ext (old one) and the bolt for headspacing and blank. You can probably play with the pistol gas tube and place it up close.Measure your stock gas tube vs ar15 gas tube.If they match then you can go pistol location and pistol gas tube.I can make you a 30/221.Send old barrel, bolt and blank you want to use.For gas location check you gas tube vs ar15.Easy job just a bit different.

Can't help you with a barrel but it appears that AR15barrels.com is having problems. See this thread at ARF.com

I would look elsewhere.

Good luck.
