Post Carriage problems

I assume by turret you mean the carriage that sets on the lathe ways.

The large wheel on the apron should run the carriage back and forth. If not, something has failed.

The farthest right allen bolt on the top of your carriage is a lock device. The bottom part may have fallen off. It clamps the carriage to the ways when you need to lock it.

The lack of feed up and down the ways is a function of the halfnuts. The Half nuts split open to release the lead screw by a lever located on the front of the apron. When they are closed they form a nut that engages the lead screw and drags the carriage back or forth.

I hope I understood your question!

Noel
