ebay scam update
I contacted the person selling a Phrobis M9 using the photos from the LanCay auctions in question. Here are the messages, judge for yourself what transpired:
ventoboost: audios82 is a really good friend of mine and since my digicam is currently out of service i asked him if i could use his lan/cay m9 pic.
me: Wait a minute, if he's a good friend of yours then why didn't he sell you the LanCay bayonets instead of making you bid on them. And when the high bidder withdrew his bids, why did you suddenly withdraw yours?? Sounds to me like you were running up the bidding on your buddy's auction. You know that's against ebay rules and illegal, don't you? It's called shill bidding. Check ebay's policy on it.
ventoboost: Well it was really a practical joke towards him, he had no idea what I was doing. Anyway i am in the service also like him and I happened to chat with him and he brought up the idea that we could sell our knives and so I did. It was bad judgement on my part but we both legitimately are honest people that have military items that we need to get rid of. Again no intentions of lying to bidders..
So, you be the judge. I heard from another M9 collector that he has purchased two fullered LanCay bayonets from audio82's earlier ebay auctions and was very pleased with them.
