Which Lan-Cay contract do I have?

Hello, I have two Lan-Cay PI black blade M9s. with the scabbard date of "98".
Here's a quote from M9bayonet.com

" The Lan-Cay second contract ended in the second week of April 1997 with all bayonets being furnished and accepted on time."

The next contract was the 1999 split contract with Ontario which was completed in June 00.

Where does the "98" date fall since it is between contracts?

98 is the date the Fastex connector was manufactured. It doesn't really date the bayonet other than knowing that is wasn't manufactured prior to 1998. It's conceivable to find a second or third contract bayonet with a 92 dated Fastex.

Is there a difference between the 2nd and 3rd contract Lan-Cay M9 bayonets? Or is it literally impossible to distinguish between the two? Do you need pics?
