This is my newest little no ban toy. I took it out for the first time today and it wouldn't run worth a darn. It seems to be failing to eject all the time. I'm not sure if this common on AR pistols, but I can't really figure out why ejecting would be any different than a rifle. For the 10 rounds or so I fired it had no problem with extraction, that was my bigest concern with the short gas system. And it had no problem with the bolt going back far enough to pick up a new round. One test I did was load one one round in the mag and when I'd shoot it would lock the bolt back on the empty mag but the spent case would still be sitting on the bolt.
This bolt is a little dirty cause it's a Bushy out of one of my rifles. As of right now, that's the only thing I can think would make this happen. Any ideas?
Sounds like a common theme and I have a buddy that has one that is causing him problems as well... I need to get my Semi-Auto upper built and start playing as these issues can be addressed but it may take a little effort and thought...
After a lot of messing with this and comparing parts to my other known working AR's. I am starting to think this is related to the short gas system.
Here's a theory- The bolt is un-locking and extracting the case from the chamber while the slow burning rifle powder is still buring. Thus the case is being pushed back into the bolt even while being pulled out of the chamber. And the ejector spring can't over come this reward force and push the case to the side.
Another theory- The case is being extracted while pressure is too high and the extractor is digging into the rim of the case and from there it is just too stuck to be kicked out.
Ether of these would be fixed by some sort of a delayed gas system. I'm thinking of ether the M16 Clinic Pigtail or an adjustable gas tube. Anyone thoughts?
BTW QB- I'd be more than happy to take some snap shots if you want to put them up on your site.
