.223 whisper ??

Hi there

Im currently building a .223 out of a Sako Vixen .222, with a S&L 21 " matchbarrel with 8" of twist. My question is, Should I get a thread for a surpressor done. I would like to be able to shoot crows out of my window, when they stand on my field about 150 yards away. But dont want to make any noise.

Is it possible to make a whisper out of an .223 ??

Lani

223 Whisper

I have experimented with shooting 69 grain match bullets with a 1:7 twist AR, you can make them go subsonic but I never could say for certain that they wouldn't tumble out of the muzzle. I wouldn't recommend risking your 223 can on this experiment.

I would recommend the 300 whisper though with a 1:8 or faster twist and Sierra 240 grain or if you can find some 250 grain HPBT with a 308 can. Better ballistics and safer for your can.
