Pistol Port Location?

I'm doing my first 300 Whisper project. I've seen where you guys are saying the pistol location is the better spot to put the port.
I've found the port size but can't find a call out from the end barrel or extension.
Please help, 12" barrel.
I've also looked in Brownell's and Midway for a pistol gas tube, where do you find them? Or are you just making them?

Thanks,
Tom

Port Locations

Tom,
Have a look at www.ar15barrels.com, there are descriptions of barrel profiles and gas port locations and why they need to be where they are.

What dimension do you have for the hole......about 0.080"? I think that was what mine was when I measured it.

I'm thinking of starting at .081".
Like someone put in one of the post, it's easier to go bigger then start at the top.

You might not have to go any bigger. I put my rifle together (Oly/RRA) and it cycles perfectly with sub (220 gr) and super (110 gr) separately or mixed. I was expecting a long journey trying to get mine to run fine, but it surprised the heck out of me when it began eating both my sub and super loads.
