M9 Collectors Beware

I want to warn all of you about something that I just experienced first hand. Those of you who follow this and the other Quartebore forums regularly might have noticed that there was a contributor who wanted to purchase several of the M9 bayonets that were featured here. He was warned to stop posting and was eventually blocked from further posting. I was contacted by this individual by email shortly after that and offered a crazy sum of money for one of my featured bayonets. It was crazy enough that I'd be crazy not to accept the offer. I replied that I'd be willing to make the deal. The person wrote back telling me to send him the bayonet, IN CHINA, and he would send me the money. This presented a little problem; for those of you who don't know, it is illegal for you to send weapons to China from the US. It is also illegal for a Chinese resident to receive or own a bayonet.

I conferred with a friend who is Chinese. He told me that he knows of this individual and he has a reputation for ripping off foreigners. He tells them to send him the bayonet and he will send payment upon receipt. He claims that he never received the package and that it must have been confiscated or lost in the mail. He ends up with the bayonet and you end up holding you hand on your ass.

The offers he makes are really too good to pass up. But I just want to warn all of you, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

hello to all

The chinese is me. But you are be in the wrong ,sir.First, You send m9 to Hong Kong,no"t to china.Second,Fedex can take the place of you draw in the money.I think be on it at the same time only.I pay money to Fedex or to your friend of HongKong.Because of it is trouble that I don"t receive bayonet or bayonet is"t very good if I send all of money to first. My methodology is safety and equity to us.You don"t confidence me but you call for me must confidence you. This is"t very equality .

thanks

In the US it is customary for the purchaser to send payment for an item before the seller ships it. According to my Chinese friend, it is the same in China.

Maybe it isn't equal, but you approached me wanting to purchase something I have. I did not solicit you. I told you what the terms would be. If you find them unacceptable that is fine, you are free to walk away from the deal. But if you are not willing to accept my terms, stop wasting my time!

I agree. Payment first, payment clears, item ships. Then if it is lost, the seller files a claim w/ the shipper, gets reimbursed from the shipper, then refunds the buyer their payment.
