300 BLK to 300/221 Compatibility Grid - What Dies & Components Work Interchangably

rsilvers, I would like to know what brands are congruent for dies and chambers between the two in one place. I realize that wildcats can be all over the place, but even with the constant 5.56 to .223 comparison, there are Wylde chambers and Match Chambers that will work with both rounds yet are not perfect to either spec.

For example answering these questions would clarify a lot:

Are Redding 300/221 dies compatible to reload 300 BLK? What about Hornady or Forester? Do we have to drop another $90+ on dies so we can reload for the 300BLK?

Is a specific reamer like the Clymer or PTG compatible with full power 300 BLK ammo? If not, what is the approximate pressure difference (500 CUP or 5000 CUP) if using that chamber with 300 BLK?

Is cut Remington .223 or Lake City 5.56 Brass the same internal capacity as the factory 300 BLK brass?

I still have not seen the specs submitted to SAAMI compared side by side to the Specs for the various reamers of the 300/221 so that may clear up much of what many of us here want to know.

I think if your response was set as a sticky, it would cut down on a lot of the questions that are asked here.

Other reamers will raise pressure maybe about 4000 psi or more. You should not fire full power 300 AAC BLACKOUT ammo in older chambers.

The dies have a lot more chance of being compatible.

I use Redding size dies and Forester Micrometer seat dies.

My SSK die set and Forester size dies are gathering dust.

I have. They seem good.

There is also an FAQ which includes the list of the 58 companies making products on www.300blktalk.com
