Ontario M9 questions

One of the local shops in my area has a used M9 up for sale. One of the guys says it was actual army issue. I know for a fact that a few soldiers returning home have sold knives there so there is a small glint of truth, but is there any way to prove this? More importantly the guard on the knife is loose, same person said that the seller admitted to taking the knife apart, the allen screw in the back seemed tight so could there have been a bushing or something lost out of it?

image wise it looks just like one Quarterbore lists in this thread
