We are right back where we started taxation without representation. STATES RIGHTS, PEOPLES RIGHTS mean nothing. Ruled by elitists and moral supremacists who know nothing of the average mans life or struggle in America.
A weapon is a tool and only as good or as bad as the person using it. If these people can't understand that basic principal then they are not fit to lead, let alone make laws to restrict the use of weapons for those of us that aren't nuts. Funny how the generation that threw a way their veterans and discredited their sacrifice to our nation should be in charge of any thing. Second amendment right(S)

It is important to remember that our second amendment right was created especially so We the People would have means of stopping government takeover. This reasoning is expressly stated in "The Federalist", by Alexander Hamilton, as per Opinion number 29. In other words, the Founders meant to "outgun" a well regulated militia, by allowing every good man to own a firearm. They fully realized a "well regulated militia" would be necessary, but feared the common people would not accept the Constitution, unless it provided protection from armed government takeover. Our second amendment rights do not really directly relate to maintaining a "minute man force", "well regulated militia", or anything else but, protection from government takeover.
Accordingly, I have my grandpa's 30.06, and will only part with it like he did---when I'm dead.

second amendment rights

I said what I meant, and meant what I said. The exact reason we have right to keeps arms is to prevent government takeover. In addition, they happen to be excellent deterence for crime, and serve as self defense, etc. Not only will I keep my firearms, but supply of ammunition as well. I'm all for staying with the "system", and writing to Senators, etc.---but whatever happens, I will possess my guns. While more oriented towards fixed blade cutlery, I am aware that David slew Goliath with a projectile. The people in Arizona do not need my sympathy, rather a demand that due process bring about a trial, with jury verdict. In saying this, remember that Timothy McVeigh proves one thing---our system of JUSTICE still works well. Each and every time people attempt to infringe upon our second amendment rights, they are actually advocating total submission to government. Thanks for an opportunity to share ideas; no hatred or sarcasm is intended.
