Is lead / leading likely to obstruct the gas port in an AR? Using lead for subs makes sense to me but am worried about clogging up the gas port. Misplaced concern?

Shoot some high velocity rounds every 150 rounds or so.
That cleans the gunk in the gas port.

247gr mold group buy?

Looks like there may be a group buy for a 247 gr mold getting started over at Castboolits.gunloads.com

Check out these links:

http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=102160

I'll be in for one if it gets off the ground. Thought a few of you might be interested too.

OK, guys: Once and for all, there is no buildup of lead in the gas system of an AR with cast bullets. If you keep the speed down and use a gas check, you will be fine. If you don't use a gas check, but keep the speed down under 1200 FPS or so, you'll be fine there as well.

247 gr. mold group buy

Guys,

Thought I'd share a link to a mold group buy over on Castboolits. Here's the drawing for you:

And a link to sign up/read more about it...

I think this one is pretty promising, especially in hollow point configuration with the right alloy.

Crawdaddy.

Whisper bullet mold

Glad you guys found the link useful. I think this will be exactly what the doctor ordered! It won't take long to pay for itself with the cost of SMKs or some of the other stuff I've tried.

Be careful on that site though, I've developed a problem when it comes to the Mihec cramer style hollow point molds in the Group Buy section. They're absolute works of art and drop hollow point bullets out of them like candy. I now have one in 452-230RN, 452-270-SAA, 459-350GC, 359640 (158gr hp -absolute favorite) and another on the way.

I also signed up for the NOE 200gr spire point. Can't wait for the whisper bullet to get here.
