Yes, very intersting indeed! I have uploaded the images from the auction here so that we have them... Note that the bayonet sheath is a much later style in addition to the different blade markings. It is intersting as well that the blade propfile is the older "pre-product improved profile" as well.

Here is the description from the auction:

Quote:
M9 Lan-Cay Bayonet in Mint condition. Rare forged Lan-Cay marked blade with a shallow blood groove. Gray blade has the old style step near the handle, old style saw teeth, and a flat grind cutting edge. This is a lighter blade. The olive green scabbard is marked Lan-Cay and has the sharpening stone on the back. The olive green handle is the straight earlier type. Absolutely beautiful set! Please study pictures carefully. Very few made like this. This is an original Lan-Cay manufactured bayonet.
Edit for follow-up... this knife sold for the Buy It Now price of $135

Well, it sure looks like someone is putting together their own unique assortment of knives, huh?

Here is the text so we have it...

Quote:
M9 Lan-Cay Desert Tan Bayonet in Mint condition. Rare forged Lan-Cay marked blade with a shallow blood groove. Gray blade has the old style step near the handle, old style saw teeth, and a flat grind cutting edge. This is a lighter blade. The Desert Tan scabbard is marked Lan-Cay and does not have a sharpening stone on the back. The Desert Tan handle is the straight earlier type. Absolutely beautiful set! Very few made like this. Note: There are two variations of this type of Lan-Cay bayonet. The earlier variation has smaller letters and this later variation with the large letters. The letter M and the 9 are also different. Which one do you have? Please study pictures carefully. This is an original Lan-Cay manufactured bayonet.
I have allso attached the images... I am dying to know just what he means with the words "This is an original Lan-Cay manufactured bayonet"? Is this an "Original" meaning you won't see another like it or "original" as it left LanCay in this configuration?

I wonder what the fastex date code is on it?
