Yes they penetrate very well. My experience is shooting hogs with the Horn 220gr RN and the Speer 200gr SP. The 220gr lodge in their heads, but drops them in their tracks. The 220gr will lodge in the opposite shoulder, but tumbles and shatters the bone and they will run a short distance before falling. The 220gr and 200gr will pass though the ribs just behind the shoulder, come out sideways leaving a large hole to leave you a easy blood trail to follow for a short ways. I have been waiting for the chance to pull the trigger with my 458 Socom Bolt rifle to test the Rem 405gr on a hog.
