Some people go with the 240s because they want the heaviest bullet they can shoot to get the most energy since most bullets don't expand at subsonic speeds.
That is usually specifically for hunting or just a preference.
I also think heavier bullets help cut down on wind drift but I am not sure how much difference 20 grains would make in your case.
If you are punching paper I would just go with the 220s.
The drop isn't that different because velocity has more to do with drop than a slight variation in the bullet weight of a similar profile.
I thought 300 yards was the effective range of a 300 Whisper round?
You need some serious elevation on your scope to take it out to 400 if you use a standard zero at 100 yards.
