But seriously, 180 grain bullets like the Nosler BT and Hornady SST do expand at subsonic velocities - not dramatically but enough to kill with one shot.

The point of the 240s is to dump a lot of energy in a long for caliber bullet that should be unstable after a few inches in a heavier than air medium. The combination of factors should contribute to a one shot kill through blood loss (more like an arrow than a high velocity bullet).

Larger game I have shot with the 240s tend to get hit, look around, continue to feed, lie down or fall down straight away and bleed copiously.

I am happy with either of those two results.
