What you were experiencing is not a slam fire as that is when the firing pin hits the primer hard enough to set it off due to the bolt and carrier momentum but the hammer does not release.
You were experiencing hammer follow which is when a trigger is not operating properly and releases due to a mechanical failure.
You usually see hammer follow on a 1911 that someone has set too light or the sear is not holding the hammer properly.
I've seen 45s double and go auto at matches.
