another Model1Sales Q & other info.

I am planning on buying one of these config. http://model1sales.com/item-detail.c...u16carpre3.gif They call it a .300 Fireball does that mean it is a different chamber than a .300-221 or .300 Whisper or are these the same, would a .221F opened up work better than cut down, pushed down shoulder and necked up .223/5.56 brass work better in this chamber. I did call them but forgot to ask that Q. They did say however that there would be a 12 week wait time. That the muzzles are now threaded 5/8x24 tpi and the carbine position is opened up to 0.125" and also that 9.8gr H110 w/ 220 gr sierra MK go at 1150fps and cycle the action, also a 1:8 twist. One more Q. I read some old threads here, is it true that CMMG and DelTon at one point had .300 Whisper configurations for sale? Anyone trying a piston driven 300 whisper?

I have a Mod 1 upper that I bought in October from them. I have been working loads with it while waiting on my AAc Cyclone to get approval. I was a little worried at first while shooting it without the can on. I had to run it right on the edge of subsonic to get it to cycle every time. Any less it would short stroke the action and not consistently pick up the next round. It would also not lock back the bolt on the last shot.
The H110 powder they said to use was better but still not 100% all the time..

After surfing on this forum some I came to the conclusion that AA1680 was the best for sub loads. It works great. I received my can yesterday and did some shooting today. Its perfect. You build up more pressure with the can it seams.

I have a redding trim die and a redding fl die set. They work great. I trim Mil brass as well. Its all fine. No issues.. I run them up and take a jigsaw and saw off the top. Takes about 2 sec. Then I trim another .010 off.
I have been using sierra 220 rn and getting each round touching @ 50yards. I will do some 100 yrd shooting soon. I cant complain about the groups.

10.2 = 900fps
10.8 = 1000fps
11.2 = 1035fps This is my load. It stays well within sub.
11.6 = 1090fps this load is on the edge of sound
12.0 = 1140fps this one breaks the sound.

I also loaded 10 grns AA1680 behind a 200 sierra and a 180 sierra bt.. Can on. Both cycled the action and stayed sub. I didn't group or cono those yet.

Im going to put up a video soon on Youtube going through the differences between can off, supersonic can on and subsonic can on. I'll put my loads on there as well..

Hope this helps.. One more thing.. I bought my can with Major Malfunction in Edmond , Oklahoma. He moves a ton of cans and knows his stuff..

Here is my 2 cents on M1S, don't get me wrong I have purchased a bunch of stuff from them over the last 10 years and may buy from them again for standard parts that they have in stock and ready to ship. Last year I ordered one of their 300 fireball barrels, I wanted a 10 inch barrel with pistol gas port. When I placed the order I was told it would be a 2 - 3 month wait. After 3 months I called and was told another 3-4 weeks out, after 4 weeks I called and was told the same thing. After 6 months of this I called and told them if they were not working on my order yet I wanted to cancel it. They got mad but I did cancel. That same day I ordered what I wanted from tp555, I had it in 3 weeks and it was less than what M1S wanted. I don't mind someone giving me a wait time but don't tell me bs just to get my order. If they don't have a clue how long it will really take because they are dependent upon getting material from their suppliers I understand that but they should tell you that.

Thanks for the info cannot wait for your video. If I end up getting one I will try some of your loads if I could acquire some AA1680. Also sorry to hear that about your M1S problems sounds like they didn't treat you right, glad you went elsewhere and all worked out.
