I bought one or two hundred pieces of Remington .221 brass and formed it all into .300 Whisper, using Hornaday dies. I find that the neck thickness is less consistent with .221 brass than it is with cut-down .223/5.56 brass. I also find that the shoulders are more likely to collapse when crimping with .221 brass than with .223 brass.

I'll keep using my .221 brass until it all dies, but I don't think I'll be using any more of it. I'll just work out a more efficient method of making brass from my pile of .223 brass.
