If heart shots are out, try an outlaw 225gr .308. I killed a nice 8 pointer and clipped the heart it ran about 50 yards, a freind of mine use it in a .308 WIN and killed a nice doe with a heart shot that ran 30 yards. The 8 pointer was at 100 yards both projectiles

exited the animals sideways.
