G"Day from SE Queensland here in Australia. I signed up with this forum back in January, and then forgot about it! Go figure. My name is Wes, and I have been collecting bayonets since I was a kid back in the late 1960's. I collect bayonets from the Boer War period to the present with about 200 specimens overall.
I grew up on the wheatfields of Saskatchewan in western Canada, served almost 20yrs in the Canadian Army before immigrating to Australia over 10 yrs back. Lived in Sydney for many years and was at various units there before taking a posting in Queensland, about 1200km north of Sydney. Great place, live on an island
www.bribie.com.au only 125 steps from the doorstep to water's edge. Good diving, and great surfing here along the coast of the Coral Sea.
I am currently a member of the ADF in the Corps of RAEME, and in the past was invloved in rebuilds of wpns and eqpt, so hence where I get my knowledge of Aussie materiel from.
I look forward to posting more on here as time permits.
Cheers,
