Fortunately the shot was high and hit the spine. She dropped where I shot her. Good thing too, as there was very minimal bleeding through the exit hole and none at all from the entrance (I had to probe around with my fingers and pull hair back just to find the hole). Following that blood trail would have been a real "on-hands-and-knees" experience. No doubt a hole through the heart or lung will kill a deer, but finding enough blood to follow will require a larger exit hole IMHO. YMMV.
