Its about time you got your 300 whisper done
I shoot the 220 grn rnose bullets too because its cheaper and they feed
fine with the magpul mags without mods.
.
Here is somes balistics for the 300 whisper using 220 and 240 grn bullets, as you can see the bullet drop for the match bullets isnt much diference than the Round nose and 270 grn cast lead is close to the same.
Loaded at 1050 FPS

Ballistic Coefficients
.310 @ 2600 fps and above
.335 between 2600 and 2200 fps
.378 between 2200 and 1600 fps
.410 @ 1600 fps and below

538fpe at the muzzle

Bullet drop
zero at 100
-12.0 at 150
-33.7 at 200
-64.8 at 250
-106.0 at 300

308 dia. 220 gr. HPBT MatchKing
Ballistic Coefficients
.331 .629 @ 2100 fps and above
.624 between 2100 and 1700 fps
.608 @ 1700 fps and below

-32.5 at 200
-62.3 at 250
-101.4 at 300

Thanks for the chart. I have been getting more of my time back for me over the last couple of months. With that I now have more time for working on my projects.

How do you feel about shooting the 270gr cast bullets though a suppressor? I have read over and over that you should not do it. I did just get a start on casting stuff, got everything but moulds.

I dont shoot cast through any centerfire can but I have the data
just to compare balistics.
I may just have to make another drive over to the eastside to
get some more long range shooting in before the winter storm hits.
Soon I will be starting a form1 40 cal can that will work on the
cheytac and the 375H&H and I will need your shooting spot to reach out.

I had always been told that P-Mags wouldn't work. I'll give it a try.

to the poster who said something about dremeling them .. could you show a pic of a modified P-Mag so I can see what your talking about?

I modify GI mags. All I do is round all the edges on my 223/300 Whisper stuff. On 458 mags I do quite a bit more. I've never used P-mags. Nothing against them. It's just personal preference.
