300 build

About to start my whisper build but got to wonder about the headspace gauge. Can i use a 221 Fireball gauge? Iīm cutting the chamber with a 221 reamer and neck/throat with another reamer. I believe there is a difference in case lenght between the whisper and Fireball, thatīs why iīm asking. Thanks

I *think* you should be able to use the same gauges, the only difference between .300 Whisper and .300/.221 fireball is from the neck of the case forwards, just to get around patent crap. Since the headspace on non-rimmed bottleneck cartridges is off the neck - you should be good to go.

Yes you can use a 221 gauge to headspace a 300 whisper. Have done it on a couple barrels for my savage.

Thankīs for answering. Will probably do the build on a Sako 75 222 Rem. The old barrel will be 221 Fireball
