458 Socom subsonic bullet test

This is a 530 gr 458 bullet I've been playing with. I got 17" of penetration in wet news print. It expanded to .70 cal. Retained weight was 370 grs. Velocity was 1052.

They're from the same guy that's making my 300 Whisper bullets.
I shot them from about 10 yds from a 7" barreled AR15. I'm going
to do some more testing at 100 yds this weekend. They are also dual diameter so that you can load them quite long. I'll try to get more
pics up tonight.

You can get them from

Ditto - I am looking forward to reading (and hopefully seeing) the results of the long range accuracy testing!

Good stuff - well done.

I shot this today at 90 yds. It may have been a fluke so don't look at this as what this gun/load combo averages. I simply have not shot it enough. 1076 fps, cartridge OAL = 2.263, 65 degrees

Teppo Jutsu 7" upper, 2x7 Leupold, and a registered SBR TI lower. This is the first (real)3 shot group I've put through the gun. I'm happy so far. I've always heard that SBR don't shoot as well, and I will be honest the gun is abrupt. I'll be shooting some more this weekend. I'll be happy with 1 1/2" groups. I have an Elite Iron suppressor on order so we will see.

That one appears to be shooting pretty well! Very nice AR.

I'd suggest the suppressor will help gun control. How much of a beast is it to shoot off the bags?

Look forward to the results of your weekend.
