The back side chevron

Hi , I currently own 2 M 9 bayonet's and I have not seen any info on the right side of the blade as far as the chevron's go , The one my wife bought me about 1987 has "BUCK" 188 and U.S.A and the chevron is pointed to the right > . The one that came over the counter at my old Pawn shop reads the same but the chevron is pointed up. I will try to get to photos lter if needed.

The marks you're talking about appear primarily on Buck commercial M9 bayonets. They are Buck date codes. Check out the chart at the bottom of the link:
