I cannot tell from the photos but if the headstock is open so you can run the flat belt down thru the bottom than I would do that, mount the lathe about 6-8" back from the front of the bench it is on after cutting a hole for the flat belt in the top of the bench. Postion the shaft and pulley the flat belt attaches too to be able tto get tension on it, usually a hinged flat board with a spring to apply tension will work. Then either mount your motor with the vee belt to the shaft under that (the weight of the motor may be enough if mounted to the board the shaft is on so no spring is needed) or put a spring on the motor mount board to apply tension.

So in essence you will have the lathe on top of the bench, the shaft directly below it and the motor below that.

Now if there is no hole for the belt in the headstock then mount the lathe as before, put the flat belt/vee belt shaft to the back with a spring to keep tension. Cut a hole in the top of the bench under this and mount the motor on a hinge below the bench, the motor weight will be sufficient usually to keep tension.
