Yeah, I don't know but I'll find out. I've been given this link but haven't had time to research it yet.

I'm thinking that it's okay because some of the long range iron sight guys counterbore several inches for a longer sight radius but to stay within a prescribed barrel length for their particular round/load. Of course, this might only be 6" into a 32" barrel.
